Solar House

Natural Light and Solar Power make a contemporary and sustainable home for the future

The removal of the rear ground floor external wall enabled the new space to merge seamlessly with the existing house. Together with the re-worked garage and utility areas, a column-free expansive living area has been created.

Elongated bespoke rooflights sit above the main kitchen area. The existing stair well is lit by an internal arched window, which is located directly under the new glazed roof. The result is a significant increase in day light which floods the core areas of the house.

In addition to the refurbishment and rear addition, A PV solar array and battery packs were installed to power the house including the new electric underfloor heating. With the use of electric/hybrid vehicles, the energy management of the house is achieving a high level of sustainable integration.
